Here are our first Xbox Game Pass games for August

Microsoft has announced the first batch of games coming to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service this August.

Below are all the new games coming to Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, Game Pass Standard in the coming weeks.

Available now:

  • Rain World (Cloud, Console, and PC), via Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, Game Pass Standard

August 6th:

  • Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (Xbox Series X/S), Now with Game Pass Standard
  • Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders (Xbox Series X/S), Now with Game Pass Standard
  • MechWarrior 5: Clans (Xbox Series X/S), Now with Game Pass Standard
  • Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap (Xbox Series X/S), Now with Game Pass Standard

August 7th:

  • Assassin's Creed Mirage (Cloud, Console, and PC), via Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass

August 12th:

  • Aliens: Fireteam Elite (Cloud, Console, and PC), via Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, Game Pass Standard

August 14th:

  • 9 Kings (Game Preview) (PC), via Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass

A highlight with this batch of games is Assassin's Creed Mirage, which Christian Donlan called "a rich and characterful adventure".

"Through the warmth of familiar rituals returning after those bigger, rangier games, I get to see what's really special about this series, what it takes to create, perhaps, and what it can give us in return," reads Eurogamer's four star Assassin's Creed Mirage review.

As with every month, with the arrival of new games, other titles will be leaving Xbox Game Pass. The following games will be leaving Game Pass on 15th August:

  • Anthem (Console and PC) EA Play
  • Farming Simulator 22 (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Persona 3 Reload (Cloud, Console, and PC)

If you want to keep playing these games after they leave Game Pass, you'll need to purchase them. On the plus side, Game Pass subscribers get a 20 percent discount.
